Facts checked for the 2026–2027 season against the operators' own pages (Santa Claus Village, Snowman World, SantaPark, VR, Finavia). Hours and prices change by season: the booking page has the final word.
SantaPark calls itself the only underground Christmas theme park in the world, and the description is literal: it is built inside a cavern blasted into the Syväsenvaara hill two kilometres south of Santa Claus Village, towards the airport. Inside, at a steady indoor temperature, there is an Elf School, a Magic Train ride through Christmas scenes, a gingerbread bakery where children decorate their own biscuits, an elf show, a post office, an ice gallery and Santa himself in his own chamber. The winter season 2026–2027 runs from 31 October to 23 January, doors at 10:00, and a day ticket costs 42 € for adults and 37 € for children aged three to twelve.

What is inside
- Elf School: a short lesson with a diploma; the single most mentioned item in reviews, «brilliant» for the under-tens.
- Magic Train: a slow ride through animated Christmas scenes. Families report riding it three or four times; no extra charge.
- Santa Claus in his cavern office: a queue of 20–40 minutes in peak season, no time limit on your own photos.
- Gingerbread bakery with Mrs Gingerbread: decorate a biscuit to take home (included).
- Elf show on the main stage several times a day, an ice gallery of sculptures at −5 °C, a calligraphy elf writing your name, a post office for Christmas-stamped cards, and an underground Arctic Circle crossing marked on the floor with its own certificate.
- Restaurants and a café inside; the Christmas and New Year's Eve dinners (24, 25 and 31 December) include a meal, shows and selected attractions.

How long, and when
Plan four to five hours; reviewers who came for two left wanting more. The park is busiest from 12:00 to 15:00 in the Christmas weeks, and on Christmas Eve it is full by noon: «go early and buy tickets ahead of time» is the most repeated advice. A good pattern is to arrive at the 10:00 opening, do Santa and the Elf School first, lunch inside, then the train and the bakery when the morning rush has moved on. Because everything is indoors, SantaPark is the rainy-day and the −30 °C plan; Snowman World next to the village is the outdoor one.
Getting to SantaPark
The address is Tarvantie 1, 96930 Rovaniemi. From Santa Claus Village it is two kilometres along the E75 towards the airport: a 25-minute walk on the roadside path (not pleasant with a pushchair in snow), a five-minute taxi, or in winter the Santa's Express bus, which stops at both. From the city centre, bus 8 to the village and then the short hop, or a taxi of about 15 minutes. From the airport it is under five minutes. There is a car park at the entrance and an award-winning design hotel next door, so some families stay there and walk.
SantaPark or Snowman World?
They are different products. SantaPark is a theme park for children aged three to twelve, indoors, with shows and crafts; Snowman World is an outdoor snow playground for everyone from six up, with slides, skating and an ice bar. A family with a four-year-old and a nine-year-old will get more out of SantaPark; a couple or a group of teenagers out of Snowman World. If the budget allows both, SantaPark takes a morning and an early afternoon, Snowman World the late afternoon of another day. The Snowman World page has the side-by-side table.

Questions about SantaPark

Is SantaPark in Santa Claus Village?
No. It is two kilometres south of the village, towards Rovaniemi Airport, with its own entrance, car park and bus stop.
Can we meet Santa in SantaPark?
Yes. Santa has his own cavern inside the park, and meeting him is included in the ticket; the VEP Pass gives express access.

Less so than Snowman World or a safari. The park is designed around children; adults enjoy the ice gallery and the show but will be done in two hours.
